"GHOSTS AND LEGEND TRIPPING"

Paul & Ben welcomed back prolific author, speaker and media personality JEFF BELANGER, purveyor of the famous www.GHOSTVILLAGE.com website. The discussion ranged from the current state of "ghost hunting" and pop paranormal research, of which Jeff took a cautiously brighter view than our father-son co-hosts. Paul took exception to the part of Jeff's web page that encourages children to get into ghost hunting and to Jeff's advice for parents. This resulted in a lively back-and-forth, with Jeff defending his position and a caller defending him. Jeff also told us about "legend tripping." Now being revived and encouraged, legend tripping is a very old practice that involves becoming familiar with a site's legend, lore and history, then visiting it, usually in groups, to better appreciate the experience. Haunted sites, scenes of UFO activity or areas where cryptids have been reported can all be places for legend tripping.

This evening, Paul & Ben welcomed back their good friend DR. ANDREW NICHOLAS, well known author, speaker, psychologist and parapsychologist, for a discussion of whether or not to use Ouija boards and seances in paranormal investigations. Dr. Nichols indicated more openness to the practices than our father-son co-hosts do, but warned that the practices are not for the faint of heart or brain. Dr. Nichols outlined several cases in which he was convinced that these methods were reaching the "agent's" or victim's subconscious mind rather that a "spirit." Paul outlined his own experience, in which the practices often formed part of a much more negative pattern. They did both agree that caution is the best policy in any paranormal endeavor.

Paul & Ben welcomed back DR. LYNNE KITEI, a primary expert on and witness to the mysterious "Phoenix Lights," and author of "The Phoenix Lights: A Skeptic's Discovery That We Are Not Alone." It is the 13th anniversary of the first appearance of these mysterious lights, seen hovering over that Arizona city by thousands of people. The phenomenon seemed coupled with sightings of huge triangular craft all over the state. Show reporter and Phoenix UFO researcher Kyle Dayton joined us duringt the show as a co-host. Paul himself witnessed the lights from a commercial airliner on February 22-23, 2007, as he and Ben were on the way to San Diego to present a speaking program. Still, he suggested caution when Dr. Lynne said that the lights have been a positive experience for whomever has seen them and are therefore as sign of spiritual reassurance.

Fascinatingly, Whitley's UFO experiences also involved what were apparently ghosts, something that matches the Enos' findings of relationships between seemingly unrelated paranormal events.

Paul & Ben welcomed investigative journalists and broadcasters LINDA MOULTON HOWE (www.earthfiles.com) and LARRY LOWE (Examiner.com) for a fascinating report on and discussion of odd sounds that are being reported from around the world. Some are metallic and are being embraced by some religious enthusiasts as "Gabriel's Trumpet" announcing the end of the world. Other sounds are reported as low booming or humming. They have been reported coming from the ground and/or the sky. Speculation includes seismic forces, infrasound, some dark government experiment, or even aliens. What these two open-minded but feet-on-the-ground experts had to say was both enlightening and sobering.

This evening, the discussion never quite got to the advertised topic, but took a lively turn centering on parts of the book to which Paul took exception, and the lack of field testing of Tom's theories. Paul recounted a number of his and Ben's paranormal field experiences, and Tom interpreted them according to his theories. There was a discussion of physics and the appropriateness (or lack thereof) of applying standard science to paranormal studies. Paul also questioned Tom's incorporation of the Bible into his theories.

Paul & Ben welcomed DR. CHRISTOPHER KEATING, renowned physicist and author of the new book "Dialogues on 2012: Why the World Will Not End."

The book was inspired by comments and questions from the classroom, public outreach and from the community. Dr. Keating says that many people are needlessly fearful about claims about December 21, 2012, the Mayan Prophecies and the end of days. He shot down nearly all the claims surrounding the Mayan prophecy -- which he asserted really is no such thing. Halfway through the show, DeEARLON, author of "Heavens Wave," called in to question some of Dr. Keating's assertions, citing two physicists of his own acquaintance who assisted with his own book.
